Reflection

Challenged to look at myself. To see what others see, and what is kept close. As we age, we grow accustomed to the patterns we have created for ourselves. The past successes and decisions often seen as a trophy…and sometimes a burden to be tended. How can we let go of our limiting perspectives? To see ourselves anew and to just accept.

Lies a soul behind a face,
Across this silvered glass.
A countenance revealed,
The hearts desires, alas.

Some Wrinkles, some gray
A sundial of my years.
Marsh fog in my eyes
No more rain of fears.

Anchored in my living
Adorned with all my earnings
Unlock my cuffs and
So free these yearnings

Inscribed with careful attention
"What if?" and "What of?"
Shackles I've given myself
In weakness and in love.

No more a prisoner
Than i allow myself to be
Live in the present!
Of pasts and futures set free!

No more defined
By what i control
Reflection of self
Gives way to glow.
